田植の季節 the season for rice planting

This painting gently and humorously depicts the rice planting season that comes with the deepening of the rainy season. The small bodies of the figures, wearing hats and silently planting rice in single file, look somewhat like children, which soothes the hearts of those who see them. The faintly painted Omine mountain range in the background seems to speak quietly to the viewer about the cycle of the seasons and the greatness of nature. The haiku and the painting are one and the same, creating a serene scene that is drenched in rain, yet cool and full of life. The simple and warm brushstrokes of the haiga capture the moment of rice planting, which can be described as the original landscape of Japan, and are full of flavor.
