Mind of Remembrance and Non-Detachment

In this work, the image of the quietly meditating Kannon and the words “Nemoto to Fushoku no Kokoro (Mind of Remembrance and Non-Detachment)” are combined in a single scroll that evokes a deep sense of peace and spiritual unity. The soft shades of black ink and the golden halo symbolize the dignity and compassion of the Avalokitesvara and guide the viewer’s mind peacefully. The “mind of remembrance and detachment” seems to refer to a mind that constantly maintains a heart that thinks of the Buddha, that is, a mind that never ceases to have faith and compassion in its daily life. The expression on Kannon’s face is full of compassion, gently embracing the viewer, and its serenity is in perfect harmony with the meaning of the phrase. The work is a memorable work in which religious solemnity coexists with a tenderness that accompanies the viewer’s daily life.
